Hermes Marcelo Huck is the Economic and Financial Senior Law Professor and International Law Professor at the Law School of Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Mr. Huck taught Public Law at the Business Administration School of São Paulo, Fundação Getúlio Vargas, and was a lecturer at special courses of Fundação Centro de Estudos do Comércio Exterior (Foreign Trade Study Center Foundation). Mr. Huck is also a member of Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil (Brazilian Bar Association), São Paulo Section, and participates in numerous national and foreign legal entities, such as Associação dos Advogados de São Paulo (São Paulo Lawyers’ Association), Inter-American Bar Association, Instituto de Direito Internacional (International Law Institute) of USP, Instituto de Estudos Avançados – IEA (Advanced Studies Institute) of USP, and is a member of the Advisory Committee of ABDI – Associação Brasileira de Direito de Informática e Telecomunicações (Brazilian Association for Information Technology and Telecommunications Law). Born in São Paulo, Mr. Huck graduated from the Law School of Universidade de São Paulo (USP) in 1965, and was awarded a degree of Master in Law (L.L.M.) by the University of California, Berkeley. Ph.D. in Law by the University of São Paulo, Mr. Huck acted as Visiting Scholar at the Law School of the University of California, Berkeley.  Mr. Huck is the author of several legal works, among which the books “Contratos com o Estado: Aspectos de Direito Internacional”, “Sentença Estrangeira e Lex Mercatoria: Horizontes e Fronteiras do Comércio Internacional”, “Da guerra justa à guerra econômica: Uma revisão sobre o uso da força em direito internacional” and “Evasão e Elisão. Rotas Nacionais e Internacionais do Planejamento Tributário”. Mr. Huck’s legal practice is mostly addressed to arbitration and mediation cases, business law, international trade and contracts, tax and corporate planning, tax law, family and probation law. Mr. Huck is also frequently appointed to act as Arbitrator in domestic and international cases.
